I walked from 6 july 2011 till 31 july 2011 the “Camino de Santiago” (Way of St. James). A journey of approx. 784 km from Saint Jean Pied de Port (France) to Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

New Google tactics

Most of you will already noticed it. Some days ago Google did a Pagerank update worldwide. A lot of my customers ask me if PR is really that important for having top positions in Google. I believe it’s not.

The most common mistake starters make is that it’s really a page rank and not a site rank. The score is valid per page. Google research your content with a lot of different factors in mind. Your page can have a pagerank of 0 (zero) as lowest value and 10 as highest. Your page can also show a — of n/a which means Google didn’t rank it yet.

Introducing Google +1 (comparable with Facebook’s ‘Like’ button it looks that Google is focussing more and more on interactivity with their searchers.

The happy few that had an invition for http://google.com/+ could see that Google isn’t giving up the battle of social media yet. Previous attempts failed. I’m curious what Google has for surprises for us all.

Google uses a lot of different factors to rank your pages in their searchengine, this will be an extra factor. How important it will become is dependant on the tests to proove what will and will not. My first results with +1 are astonishing. It had positive effect on the positions in Google.

How to save your iPhone4 when it felt into water

Maybe you also have thought this several times…. This won’t happen to me…. Yeah right… and then it happens…

The same case with me… My iPhone felt into the water

What did I do to rescue my iPhone from the water?

Took it as fast as possible out of the water (duh)
Removed the protection case (had a lot of water)
Dry the iphone with a towel
Blew dry the openings of the phone. Only the next time I would not blow again but try to suck out of the air. I read on the Apple forum this is better because blowing will cause the water to go inside the phone
The iPhone4 was working… till…
I turned off and on the phone
everything looked normal
I wanted to put the sound volume louder but the phone showed me “headphone mode” while I didn’t had a headphone connected resulting in no sound.
then I put off the phone and surprise….
the phone jumped into recovery mode, where you have to connect the iphone on your PC syncing with iTunes which I didn’t want to do because of my jailbreak and the information on the phone. iTunes will do a restore and upgrade to the newest firmware
I installed tinyumbrella and chose the option so the phone has to get out of service mode and just boot
then I waited a while
and… eureka! everything works well again…. matter of drying and choosing NOT to restore
